A few months ago, I realized that I light everything that I do with soft light and I rarely use hard light as my source. So, given that thought, I gave myself the goal that over break I was going to do a shoot with hard light and, in a way to not make it look so contrasty, I was going to us a speedlite or reflector just to fill the shadows. Plus, it was good for me to get out of the studio for a while.
Kevin is an amazing model that has interesting and creative concepts and ideas for every shoot that he does. On Model Mayhem, I posted a casting call for models that wanted to do a shoot. I was so thrilled to see that Kevin had responded. Near his house were some concrete tubes that are at a construction site that Kevin was determined to do a shoot in. Here's what we came up with!
On all of these, I loved both the black and white and the color edits, so I had to post both. (click on the thumbnails, since they're so wide and posted so small)

Glen
Glen and I had been trying to set up a shoot for quite a while, but each others' availability was always inverted. But, as you can see, having stayed in touch for the past few months, we were finally able to set up a shoot, over my summer break. Because it was break, I wasn't able to check out any lights to take on location for the shoot, so I had to rely on natural light and ways of modifying it with reflectors, scrims, and bounce boards. I was grateful that I had this experience because it's been a year since I haven't lit with artificial light in a while and I think I need to gain back the control I can take of using only existing light.

Aveda Institute Denver
Thanks to Anna, I've been able to network myself with the Aveda Institute of Denver, where SO many great stylists pour out. The stylists are always looking for photographers to take photos of their work so that they can build their portfolio. Here are some that I shot, edited, and was a part of! The first two models are images that Anna shot that I retouched for her.
